Kahoot Trivia Team Tournament

The force was strong in the library when South Side's best and brightest turned out for a Kahoot Trivia Team Tournament.

I am very thankful to Callie Quiroz and Dena Meriweather, both librarians from Bigelow School District, for sparking this idea at our last Arch Ford Coop LMS meeting. The "Dog Days" of school are hard, and I needed something to energize the kids.

I use Kahoot a lot for pre-testing and post-testing library lessons and various tasks, but I had never thought about hosting a Team Trivia Tournament. I am always looking for something fun to do during these dog days of school.

Originally the tournament was going to last for several weeks, playing on Fridays, but with the Juniors out decorating for Prom, it was agreed that we could stay a little longer into 6th period if we needed to.

As of the day before at 2:45, I had ZERO kids signed up and I thought this event was going to be a big FLOP.  I had even offered to buy the winning team Taco Tuesday or Snappy's chicken thinking that would entice some kiddos to come on in the library and give it a try.

Then Lane, a senior, came in an rallied a team.  Soon enough  I had  8 teams of 3-4 people (and a few teachers) who were going to participate in the tournament. Every grade level had assembled a team to compete.

TEAMS NAMES:

ROWDY GENTLEMEN
COUCH POTATOES
eLEMONators
TERMINATORS
KNAPP
YOU'RE FIRED
TOMMYSTEAM
WINNERS!

Round one consisted of 10 questions.  The top 5 teams would continue to Round 2.

Round Two consisted of 15 questions.  The top 3 teams would continue to Round 3.  I had a few questions that were not correct in this round, but we shook it off and continued on. That was totally my fault.  I apologized and fixed them as soon as the tournament was over.  It really didn't change the standings as they were.

The Final Round consisted of 17 questions.  The winning team getting a free lunch!

Congrats TEAM KNAPP!!!!

Until Next Time,
